Abortion: How Is The News Handling It?

Since Roe v. Wade was overturned on June, 24th 2022, the buzz has barely died down over it. This big change created ripples throughout the nation, dividing us even more. Some people were angered and scared, seeing the nearly 50 year old case being thrown out as a step back in time for women. Others cheered for the removal of a case that allowed for these kind of murder to take place for so long.  Everyone has opinions on this matter, opinions that will not die down overnight. 3 months later, what does the news look like now? One article by CNN , released on September 26th, shows one women's emotional journey as one of the last women in Arizona to have a legal abortion. It is delivered in a narrative format, detailing the anonymous women's experience with difficult pregnancy, coping with the idea of death and being confronted by protestors.  This style of journalism plays to the reader's emotions. The goal is to allow people who have never been in the shoes of this women...

What is up with the News These Days?

When I created this blog, I chose my theme based on a few different factors. One of them was the pure curiosity to learn about how bias affects our intake of current news. Another reason was to figure out where different sources are settled on the scale of extreme leftist to extreme rightist. Something I did not expect to learn was how not all media get reported on by every source. It may just be young naivety, but I had always assumed that when something happens in media that could be considered "newsworthy" it would immediately be seen by every source. This is not the case as it turns out. What I have seen is stories being highly publicized in some sources and simply never mentioned in others. This makes my job here more difficult as my goal is to find two sources on the same topic and discuss their bias. That is hard to do when half of the major news is never reported on. A pattern can be found if you snoop enough. When information comes out on a rightist news source high...

Hurricane Ian: How is this Political?

Hurricane Ian is expected to make landfall in Florida sometime between late Wednesday or early Thursday morning. This storm is setting up to be the first major hurricane of the year as it has the potential to reach a category 5. The sunshine state has already gone into a state of emergency, requiring mandatory evacuations for many residents. "More than 2.5 million are under evacuation orders in Central Florida ahead of Hurricane Ian, which is expecting to make landfall on the west coast of the state on Wednesday evening." (Haddad, 2022). The possible destruction of this hurricane has many people in a state of panic. Showing their fear, many have taken to Tik Tok to share their evacuation strategies. So, How is this political? As I was scrolling through different sources, looking for something interesting to blog about, I came across the same kind of information regarding the hurricane. Mostly, it's informational as it is updated constantly with the newest incoming news. ...

Former President Donald Trump: What Are the Facts?

Trump is back in the news! Again... What's going on this time? Former President Donald Trump is being sued for falsifying information and committing insurance fraud as well as other offenses. These actions are thought to be conspired before, causing a big mess for Mr. Trump and his executives.  Personally, I have seen many articles circling through the media on this topic. Trump's presidency saw a lot of turbulence in regards to politics, so his name involved in anything is guaranteed to be headline news. What I found was drastically different opinions on the matter.  I found and analyzed two articles on this topic. One is from Buzzfeed News, which will serve as our leftists view. The other article is from National Review, which will be our rightest view.  Let's get into it... I believe the titles here are very important to note. You can tell which direction the story is going based on it. The Buzzfeed article is titled, " New York's Attorney General Is Suing Dona...
