The Republican Governor of Florida is the topic of rumor as word is spreading about his possible run for presidency in 2024. His recent fame has put him in the news many times before and has therefor either made you love him or hate him.
As this is not confirmed by DeSantis or anyone associated to him, this is being reported rather calmly, mostly a "keep your eyes open for this" style. Many people have either announced their goal to run or have also been rumored and it seems the rumors will only grow.
It seems neither side is too thrilled to hear of the possibility of DeSantis running, but for very different reasons. Fox News writers Andrew Murray and Paul Steinhauser say that Trump has announced his third run and this now competes with who the Republican nomination will go to. Surely, between now and then more information will come out and hopefully make the better choice clear.
Other than that one possible conflict, the article speaks highly of the Governor, who easily won his reelection not too long ago. The writers talk primarily of his book, which will give insight onto who he is outside of the political world.
"The memoir will also detail his marriage to Casey DeSantis, their children and his wife’s battle with cancer." (Murray and Steinhauser, 2022).
This method of "humanizing" people in positions of authority has proven successful in other cases and is being widely used recently.
The Guardian does not have too much to say on the matter of DeSantis from a left POV. I The focus of the article is mainly on Elon Musk's support of DeSantis if he does choose to run.
“My preference for the 2024 presidency is someone sensible and centrist. I had hoped that would be the case for the Biden administration, but have been disappointed so far,” Musk said on Twitter.
This could be seen as a jab to not only Biden and his members but to former president Donald Trump as well considering he has already openly announced his plans to run.
The fight for the Republican nomination is described at "a lot of blood on the floor" when the time comes to choose a candidate.
To round this up...
As most of what is reported is based on rumor and speculation, it is pointless to get deep into feelings. Both sides seem to see it this was as both articles were more informative than opinion based. You can see the slight respective biases of both. Fox News choosing to highlight his upcoming book to humanize him while The Guardian compares him to Trump and sets up ideas for probable drama in the future.
