Walker vs Warnock: Who Will Win?

    Georgia's runoff election is set for December 6, 2022 after none of the three candidates got above a 50% majority vote. Walker ended with 48.5% while Warnock ended with 49.4%. Third party candidate Chase Oliver gained a 2.1% vote and will not be considered in the upcoming election.  

    The state has been biting their nails as we await the next round of results that will decide the next member of the Senate for Georgia. Involvement in this election has been impressive. According to Fox News, more than a quarter million people showed up to vote in just one day, breaking the state record. Fox News is relatively unbiased in their article, posted by Danielle Wallace. She mentions that the results of this race could be the difference in the Senate being an equal 50-50 or democrats holding majority. 

    CNN has a different approach to their coverage on the election. The article titled, Opinion: Trump's Shadow Hangs Over Herschel Walker in Georgia's Senate Runoff, makes a few jabs at the republican candidate. 

    "Herschel Walker, the former football star now running to become a Republican US senator from Georgia, needs to pull a rabbit out of a hat."(Ghitis, 2022).

    The writer goes into detail on how Walker is at a disadvantage by needing to not just get any old votes, but the votes of people who dislike former President Donald Trump. She implies it will be a tough task and would essentially be a miracle to achieve. The bias on the left side is much more clear, which is to be expected after all that the left has released about Walker in an attempt to disincentivize voters from supporting him.

    This election has been highly publicized and criticized. It seems most of each candidates budget had gone to bashing the opposing team to make themselves look better. This race will be one that will be remembered for Georgia residents for a long time.

Donald Trump is Back on Twitter

       Former President Donald Trump has been officially reinstated on Twitter after being banned after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol in 2021. The decision came from Elon Musk, who recently bought the social media platform. Musk did a poll on the platform and a slight majority wanted him back.  Photo from NPR     The left are not particularly happy with the decision. Vox , a left news source says " Civil rights groups like the NAACP, the Anti-Defamation League, and Color of Change have criticized Musk’s decision to reinstate Trump, arguing that the  former president’s Twitter presence poses a threat to democracy , and that Musk has been erratic and unclear in his decision-making process.
